I've always believed it's okay not to support every charity that asks as long as I'm a student. When I now (finally) am making money it's time to give something back to society. I was very excited when Orange Bus decided to go through with The Free Web Project, building a website in 72 hours free of charge, and my excitement was even bigger when Team Kenya won the contract. They came to Orange Bus headquarters with amazing stories, class footage, a stack of photographs and burning passion to make a difference in Ndhiwa in Western Kenya. The Orange Bus team had a great time building the site, Twenty First Century Media made a cool video about it, and Val and the trustees at Team Kenya have a fantastic site which is integrated with Flickr and a facility for the Kenyans to blog from the youth centre Team Kenya have built in the village.
Around the time The Free Web Project was held, Val was planning a 10 days trip to Kenya in October, and asked me to join. Very excited back then when I said yes and booked the flights, gutted that it was 6 months away. But now October is truly upon us, I've had my yellow fever injection and am stocked up on malaria tablets, fiction bed time literature has been shifted for Lonely Planet Kenya and I'm lined up in front of the box every night to watch Big Cat Live from the Maasai Mara - it's time to get into the mood!
Please sponsor me over at EveryClick - even a fiver will get a long way for the young kids in Ndhiwa. I'll be blogging over at the Team Kenya website (my own TK blog) and perhaps here during my stay. Plan: Soak up the culture, learn loads, help the charity and the locals, and take a gazillion photos which we'll turn into something and sell to fundraise for the charity when we get back. Itinerary to follow.

The Team Kenya branding!
